Books
Web building and graphics
This collection of books and software is designed for new to intermediate web designers. They are offered through Amazon.com and by clicking on the link, you will open a new browser window at Amazon.com and you can complete the purchase at their website. I have found Amazon to have some of the best prices overall for these kinds of products. Feel free to browse around while at Amazon for other books but I have done a lot of the research for you and and selected the books with the best customer ratings that I could find for that catagory.
For Free or low cost web authoring and graphics software, see my Links page

Learning Dreamweaver:
This book has gotten great reviews from new Dreamweaver users as well as folks that have some experience with the product. If you have dreamweaver, a good howto book is "required" reading.

Graphics Editing Software:
Dreamweaver alone is not enough to produce web pages. you also need solid graphics capability. While A full Photoshop is nice, It is also very expensive. Elements is a very powerful product for the price and a must have for graphics work.

Webpage Development:
Yes, It is expensive! I have some other alternatives later on in this page but for those that can afford it, Dreamweaver is the standard that most other systems try to emulate.

Learning Photoshop Elements:
To go along with Elements, this book had good reviews due to its visual method of teaching. I had a friend who had great difficulty learning the basics of Excel and the visual series for Excel got her up and running in no time. Very good series.

Basic Web Design and HTML:
Before we can run or walk, we must learn to crawl. This book will have you up on your feet in no time. 21 reviews and it is still at 5 stars! In a weekend, you can go from knowing nothing about HTML and web design - to publishing your first web page

How not to develop web pages:
This book is somewhat famous as the author has done a lot of consulting on poor web design. If you want to build web pages that people want to return to, it is a great resource.
